Troopers: Woman killed in Concord hit-and-run

CONCORD, N.C. — North Carolina Highway Patrol troopers are searching for a driver they said hit and killed a woman in Concord and then drove away.

Troopers said a man was driving to work Saturday morning when he saw Brandi Bost's body lying on Centergrove Road near the Kannapolis border.

Bost's mother said Bost was walking home after her car got stuck in a ditch.

"I don't see how they could go and run over her and just leave her laying there in the road," mother Pamela Bost said.

Pamela Bost lived next door to her daughter. She said Brandi Bost was the type of person who would do anything for anyone.

"She was just a good girl. I know she's a woman but to me she's still my baby," Pamela Bost said.

Troopers said hours later they aren't any closer to identifying the driver who hit her, or even the type of car the person was driving.

"She's been transported to the medical examiner's office to do an autopsy. Trying to get some more physical evidence collected," said Sgt. Garrett Barger with the N.C. Highway Patrol.

Barger said they have been interviewing neighbors in the rural area to gather what information they can.

"Anybody who sees any vehicles in the area that have front-end damage, front end, hood," Barger said.

While the Highway Patrol investigates, the Bost family is turning to the public for answers.

"We want to find the person. We want to find the person that hit her. I know probably that's going to be hard," Pamela Bost said.

N.C. Highway Patrol is asking for anyone with information to come forward or call 1-800-233-3151.
