Witnesses told police that some people in a car had been trying to find Randolph for several hours and that during their encounter, the driver pulled a handgun and began firing at the teen.
Detectives notified Charlotte-Mecklenburg police who helped find and arrest the suspect, 20-year-old Adrian Skinner, a short time later.
Eyewitness News spoke with the woman who owns that vehicle, who said she was sitting in her living room when she heard five gunshots and ran outside.
“The ambulances came up and took a young boy away in the ambulance,” Patti Pizzano told Channel 9. “Then they asked me whose car it was and I said it was mine. They told me it was shot too. So he must have ran across the street and they kept shooting at him."
He has been charged with attempted first-degree murder.
Police have not yet released information about a motive.
