Brandon Newton (R)
What is your occupation?
Instructor of Business, USC Lancaster
Why are you running?
South Carolina State House District 45
What sets you apart from your opponents?
During my time in the legislature I have proudly passed billions of dollars in tax cuts, including those for income taxes, small businesses, boats, and senior-owned homes. The way for the government to put more money in your pocket is to not take it out in the first place.
What bill will you prioritize?
We must continue to examine affordability. This should be done by lowering the tax burden and supporting economic development in South Carolina. The quickest way to change someone’s personal financial outlook is a good paying job. We must continue to make South Carolina the greatest place to start and operate a business.
How should the state address Silfab Solar?
South Carolina should leave local zoning and planning decisions to local governments as we currently do. Any damage caused should be compensated by the business and not the taxpayer.
What action should be taken on abortion?
I am proudly prolife and supported by the South Carolina Citizens for Life. We need to protect South Carolina’s current heartbeat law while also supporting the mothers and children born in this state.
