Proposed noise walls to be discussed at council meeting

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte City Council will get an update about a proposed noise wall that could be built near uptown Monday night.

The state Department of Transportation wants to build a 15-30-foot barrier on Interstate 77 between Interstate 85 and the Brookshire Freeway.

The DOT said it would block out noisy traffic but many homeowners said it would ruin their view and some business leaders said it would hurt opportunities for future development.
