CHARLOTTE — Construction will begin soon on a massive pedestrian bridge that will cross over Interstate 277.
Leaders held a celebration Tuesday for the Rail Trail Bridge connecting Uptown and I-277.
The bridge will have arches, cables, and aesthetic lighting.
The $16.4 million project was unveiled in 2019 but delayed due to safety and constructability.
The bridge is expected to be open by 2028.
