'Repeat offender' wanted after meth lab found inside dog house, deputies say

Jared McManus

SALISBURY, N.C. — Deputies are looking for a man who they described as a repeat offender after they found two meth labs at a home in Rowan County, including one inside a dog house.

Authorities are looking for 32-year-old Jared McManus after they searched the home he lived in with relatives on Candlewick Drive in Salisbury Tuesday.

Law enforcement found two one-pot meth labs on the property, one in the backyard and one inside a dog house on the porch.

Investigators said they found evidence of ongoing methamphetamine production, including items used in manufacturing, such as lithium batteries, ammonium nitrate, pseudoephedrine, sodium hydroxide and other materials.

McManus was not home at the time and is now wanted by the Rowan County Sheriff's Office for charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, possession and distribution of methamphetamine precursors, maintaining a dwelling to keep and sell controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McManus was convicted in Rowan County on April 20 for possession and distribution of methamphetamine precursors, and placed on probation.

The conviction was based on a search at the same house on Jan. 9, 2015, for the same thing. During the earlier search, investigators discovered 200 milliliters of methamphetamine oil and precursor materials used to manufacture methamphetamine.

Deputies told Channel 9 that when the 2015 search happened, McManus was out on a bond from an August 15, 2014, arrest by the Granite Quarry Police Department for possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia.

Anyone with information about McManus' whereabouts is encouraged to call the Rowan County Sheriff's Office at (704) 216-8700.
