Strong odor sends students outside elementary school

ROCKWELL, N.C. — Reports of a strong odor sent students outside their elementary school in Rowan County on Wednesday morning, school officials said.

There was no fire.

Chopper 9 Skyzoom flew over Shive Elementary School in Rockwell, where firefighters were on the roof.

Students were allowed back into the building and classes resumed.

The fire department is investigating the odor that was related to an electrical issure.

No additional details have been made available.
