SC doctors use stem cell kidney transplant on cat

SOUTH CAROLINA — South Carolina doctors may have found a new way to fight kidney disease in humans using a cat.

Doctors performed a ground-breaking stem cell transplant on a 14-year-old cat with the disease on Monday.

Sabrina is now recovering.

Doctors hope similar treatments will someday help the 20 million Americans suffering from kidney disease.
