S.C. Johnson donates $45K to Gaston County Habitat for Humanity

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Habitat for Humanity of Gaston County recently announced a $45,000 grant given to them by S.C. Johnson to support Belmont’s Dixon Village neighborhood.

The grant will go towards a new, sustainable home for a local family in the Dixon Village community that is still under construction. Habitat for Humanity, in partnership with homeowners and volunteers in Gaston County, will build over 20 single-family homes and introduce a mixed-income approach to affordable housing.

Houses in the Dixon Village neighborhood will be separated into thirds; the first will be reserved for Habitat for Humanity families; the next will be used for workforce housing; and the remaining third will be sold to entry-level buyers. The new homes are expected to fill a gap in the Gaston County housing market.

Kay Peninger, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Gaston County, thanked S.C. Johnson for their large donation and shared her excitement as she continues to watch the Gaston County community grow and thrive.

“We are very grateful,” said Peninger. “SC Johnson has provided a grant to help build homes for hard-working families in our Dixon Village community. This really shows their commitment to seeing Gaston County thrive.”

Habitat for Humanity of Gaston County says the goals for the Dixon Village development are to create a peaceful, diverse, and close environment that will bring benefits to the entire region.
