Seoul Food Meat Co. debuts its second restaurant at Lintmen’s

CHARLOTTE — Seoul Food Meat Co. is doubling down on its Southern barbecue with a Korean twist.

Its 15,000-square-foot-location at 421 E. 26th St., just north of uptown Charlotte, soft opened on Monday with limited seating as it gears up operations. Expect that restaurant to deliver a new twist on the Seoul Food experience with plenty of bells and whistles.

Diners order at the counter versus table service. The menu features favorites such as soy-garlic wings, 12-hour beef rib, crispy pork belly and fire chicken. There’s also fusion tacos, flavored tofu or Kim-Bap — a rice and seaweed wrap with options such as cheese, fire squid, pulled pork and bulgogi. Sides include Sriracha Cracklins, the Sweet Potato Bird’s Nest, Bao Buns, green tea cornbread and Baked Ram N’Cheese — a spin on mac and cheese made with ramen noodles.

“Everything on the menu has to be a fusion, or we wouldn’t put it on the menu,” says Timothy Chun. “We want it to look like American barbecue, but we want it to taste like Korean food.”

He and wife Lisa Kamura are behind Seoul Food, which opened its first location in South End in 2014.
