‘A sick feeling’: Thief seen on video stealing high school band’s trailer

INDIAN LAND, S.C. — Surveillance footage shows someone stealing a trailer Friday night from Indian Land High School in South Carolina.

The school had raised money for the trailer, which helps the school’s band move equipment to performances.

The thief hooked up the 20-foot trailer to a four-door, black pickup truck before driving off.

“It was more of a sick feeling in my stomach, I don’t know that it was shock,” said Matthew Willis, the school’s band director.

The band started raising money for the trailer in March and it was purchased over the summer.

“We had to wait to purchase it because they were in short supply,” Willis said. “It’s more than a monetary thing for us. It makes what we do possible.”

Someone noticed that the trailer was missing on Monday morning.

“You didn’t just steal a piece of equipment from a campus,” Willis said. “You stole a piece of equipment that my kids worked toward. That my kids use. They didn’t steal it from me.”

If you see the trailer or know where it may be, please call police immediately.
