Skydiver dies after 'hard landing' in SC

CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. — Police have not released the name of the skydiver killed after taking a  "hard landing" in South Carolina Sunday.

The Herald in Rock Hill reported the man is credited with more than 1,000 plane jumps.

The manager of the company that coordinated the jump said the man's equipment was functioning properly.

The jump was performed at the Chester Catawba Regional Airport.

The man was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center, where he later died.
