MATTHEWS, N.C. — Crews had to shut down the intersection of South Trade Street and Fullwood Road in Matthews after a gas line was hit Wednesday afternoon.
From Chopper 9, puffs of smoke could be seen coming from the ground.
Police, firefighters and paramedics waited for a digging crew from Piedmont Natural Gas to arrive and make repairs.
The intersection reopened at about 7:45 p.m.
