Statesville man killed when moped hits parked boat

STATESVILLE, N.C. — Police said a Statesville man who was driving a moped was killed when he ran into a parked boat.

Officers were called out to the scene on East Sharpe Street Wednesday afternoon.

Police told the Statesville Record and Landmark that witnesses said the man had just purchased the moped in the past few days.

The victim's name has not been released.
