Statesville teen skateboards into traffic, hit by car

STATESVILLE, N.C. — Saturday morning, a teen riding on his skateboard was hit by a car, a Statesville police officer said.
 
Around 11:30 a.m., the 13-year-old was going down the steep hill on Buena Vista Avenue, and went into traffic on West End Avenue in Statesville. He was hit by a car at this intersection, officials said.
 
The boy has life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to CMC.
 
Police are still investigating, but the driver is not likely to face charges.
 
Police said the teen was from out of town and staying with family in the area.
