CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Food trucks have become a successful trend in Charlotte, and one family made it their sole income, hoping one day to open a restaurant.
But that dream came crashing down this week when their food truck trailer was stolen and stripped of everything.
Jill Young is still shaken after she said someone literally rolled away with their family food truck, called Philly's Italian Ice and Mobile Eatery.
‘”A huge blow for us,” she said. “This has devastated our lives. We went from a successful business to no business at all.”
After a short vacation, Young said they returned Tuesday to find the truck missing from storage.
Police found it Thursday abandoned and damaged in a lot next to Revolution Park.
“It looked totaled,” she said. “All of our equipment pulled out, generator gone and decals gone, trailer scratched up bad.”
The Youngs don’t know what to do.
“We're just a small business trying to make an honest living, and someone takes your livelihood away from you,” Young said.
The Youngs filed a claim with insurance.
