CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police said someone sneaked into a family's home on East Park Avenue last Thursday as a baby and a nanny were home.
Police said the intruder stole jewelry worth nearly $2,500.
Officers said the baby and the nanny were uninjured. The home is directly across from Latta Park.
Dilworth resident Lisa Flynn said she saw police at the home that day.
"When I was running back, there was a van and a police car," Flynn said.
Channel 9 learned that two other homes were burglarized last week, one on Myrtle Avenue and another one on Scott Avenue.
"I figure if it happened at that time of the day, it's somebody that’s just watching the neighborhood, so they know the parents aren't home," Flynn said.
With Dilworth's proximity to uptown and local transit, neighbors said they will be more vigilant as police search for the people responsible.
"We do keep our doors locked because people will come by and open doors from time to time. We've seen that," Paul Pedigo said.
Police said they aren't releasing a description of the intruder because they don't want to hurt the investigation.
Police are asking people with information to call Crime Stoppers.
“That's extremely frightening, very concerned,” Pedigo said. “That raises the risk level quite a bit.”
