Taproom preps for Rock Hill debut as long-awaited project nears

ROCK HILL, S.C. — A long-awaited redevelopment project in Old Town Rock Hill is nearing completion as the building’s tenant — a franchise location of self-serve taproom Hoppin’ — is hoping to open there in the coming weeks.

Construction on the Cotton Warehouse project, which called for the revitalization of a roughly 5,000-square-foot building at 302 Dave Lyle Blvd., is nearly done, according to Justin Smith, a partner in the venture.

Smith and his partners have been working on the project for several years, investing nearly $3 million to revive the historic structure. It will soon be home to the first franchise location of Hoppin’, which also has a taproom in South End.

Joe Gulledge, Hoppin’ franchisee leading the Rock Hill location, said he and the Cotton Warehouse developers are targeting an early June opening.
