Tiger fans pounce on stores to buy gear after Clemson's national championship win

ROCK HILL, S.C. — Clemson fans are rushing into sports stores to buy their fan gear after the Tigers remarkable win over Alabama, the great dynasty of college football, in the national championship game.

With bags of new Clemson gear in her hands, Pat Holcolmbe said with a smile, “We just won the championship last night so I need some new things.”

Holcolmbe lives in the Rock Hill area, 120 miles away from Clemson--but distance doesn't matter to her.

While she was watching the game, she joked her neighbors may have heard her "hollering" in excitement.

After Clemson won Monday night, hundreds of fans poured into the Academy Sports to get their new gear.

Fan Anna Russo said, laughing, “My husband’s best friend is a Bama fan and rubbed our nose in it every year. We haven’t rubbed his nose in it yet, but we will!”

When Channel 9 talked to fans on Tuesday morning, many of them were still losing their minds over insane plays, such as the unbelievable one-handed catch by wide receiver Justyn Ross.

Still, not everyone in the crowd was on Clemson's rapidly growing bandwagon.

Michael Chandler told Channel 9 he was pulling for Alabama and he lost a bet with his boss, so he had to buy him a Clemson hat.

When he described the experience as painful, it didn't look like he was kidding.

With the exception of those who lost bets, all the other shoppers said they were satisfied customers.

President Donald Trump tweeted about the championship game.

He called Clemson a great football team and said the game was a win for South Carolina.
