GASTONIA, N.C. — Lanterns released into the sky during the Lantern Fest at the Carolina Speedway Saturday night lit a nearby tower on fire, officials said.

Firefighters responded to the scene in Gastonia to extinguish the fire near the top of the tower.

Witnesses said the fire was out at about 9:20 p.m.
Officials said no injuries have been recorded.
"At the Lantern Fest, thousands of revelers join together armed with lanterns for one unforgettable spectacle," according to the Lantern Fest's website.
