Tree falls across Randolph Road taking out power lines

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Crews worked most of Saturday to restore power to about 320 homes near Randolph Road in south Charlotte.

A large tree toppled over at about 5 a.m. snapping three large power poles and cutting power to the homes.

"I heard three loud bangs and power went out afterwards," said Matt Williams.

Crews worked to replace each pole and to clear up the mangled power lines. The work wasn't projected to wrap up until 6: p.m. Saturday.
