CHARLOTTE, N.C. — North Carolina State Highway Patrol troopers are investigating after a man was hit and killed while trying to cross Interstate 485 in north Charlotte.
The crash happened just before 9 a.m. on the I-485 outer loop near Benfield Road, near the on ramp from Exit 26.
Troopers said a man was trying to run across I-485 when he was hit by a pickup truck in the far right lane as it was passing the on ramp.
MEDIC pronounced the man dead at the scene, but he has not been identified. Authorities said it is unclear why the man was trying to cross the highway.
No charges have been filed against the driver of the pickup truck.
