Two doctors at Duke have impromptu ceremony after wedding postponed due to COVID-19 WTVD (WTVD)

DURHAM, N.C. — Two doctors at Duke University Hospital celebrated what would have been their wedding day before the coronavirus pandemic, WTVD reported.

Friend and co-workers held an impromptu ceremony in the Duke Birthing Center for OB-GYN resident Dr. Shelun Tsai and Dr. Michael Sun, a resident in Duke Psychiatry’s program.

They wanted to bring joy and hope during this stressful time for health care workers.

The “wedding party” made a bouquet out of tissue paper and decorated a transportation case with “Just Married” signs.

The couple also exchanged their vows via Zoom so their friends and family could watch. A labor and delivery nurse officiated the ceremony.

The couple’s planned wedding ceremony has been postponed until a later date due to COVID-19.
