Two men arrested in connection with robbery of PNC Bank in Gastonia, officials say

GASTONIA, N.C. — The Gastonia Police Department has arrested two men in connection with the robbery of a PNC Bank, according to reports.

Officials said they responded Wednesday to reports about the robbery of a bank on South New Hope Road.

An investigation revealed that a man entered the bank and handed a teller a note demanding money. The man took cash from the bank and got into the passenger side of a vehicle that was waiting for him outside, according to reports.

Officials said a short time later an officer saw the vehicle the man was believed to be in driving down South Trenton Street.

Officials said when they stopped the vehicle, they found two men inside along with evidence from the bank robbery.

The two men were later identified as 37-year-old Shawn Antonio Clarke and 53-year-old Steven Edward Henson. Both men were then arrested and charged with robbery, according to reports.
