2 rushed to the hospital after west Charlotte shooting

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two victims were taken to the hospital with serious injuries Sunday afternoon after a shooting on Tuckaseegee Road in west Charlotte, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Police were on the scene at the Tuckaseegee Recreation Center collecting evidence and piecing together what led up to the shooting.

Police said several people, including the two male victims, were involved in an altercation outside of the REC Center in the parking lot.

“Some time (during) fight (the) two parties separated,” Lt. Andy Royston said. “One returned (and) shots were fired.”

An unknown suspect fired shots, striking the two victims and an unoccupied vehicle parked nearby.

The suspect then fled the scene by vehicle.

“It’s really sad,” Nicole Okubanjo said.
