ROCK HILL, S.C. — The city of Rock Hill held a celebration on Friday, marking one year until they host the UCI BMX Racing World Championship for a second time.
The race first came to the city in July 2017, bringing over 3,000 riders from 48 different countries and thousands of tourists. Before it was held in the Palmetto State, the last time the event was in the U.S. was in Louisville, Kentucky, in 2001.
The celebration began at 10 a.m. on Friday at the Rock Hill BMX Supercross Track on Riverwalk Parkway.
Remarks were made by Rock Hill’s mayor, John Gettys, along with John Taylor, recreation and tourism director. The event ended with BMX riders hitting the track.
