U.S. Post Office stops delivering to mailboxes at Boone apartments

BOONE, N.C. — The U.S. Postal Service is changing how it delivers mail to several off-campus apartments in Boone.

The postal service stopped delivering mail this week to mailboxes for hundreds of students at the University Highland Apartments.

Instead, the USPS is delivering mail to the office area at the apartments and requiring students to pick up their mail and packages there.

Some students said that Thursday they were confused by the sudden change.

“For a little bit, we didn’t know how we were going to get our packages,” student Jackson Stamey said. The USPS sent Channel 9 a statement that said,

The U-S Postal Service sent Channel 9 a statement that said it is complying with postal service guidelines by delivering the mail to the property management office for pickup.
