CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Veteran restaurateur Pierre Bader's latest venture draws inspiration from his travels to Italy. His Cicchetti brings an a Venetian-inspired wine bar and retail wine shop to the corner of East Trade and North College streets.
The roughly 3,000-square-foot restaurant opens on Tuesday.

"Uptown I think is still crying for these local places like this," Bader says. "There is no place to go, sit and relax."
Cicchetti replaces City Smoke in the Bank of America Corporate Center. It also marks the newest addition to Bader's Sonoma Restaurant Group, which also operates Aria Tuscan Grill and Founders Hall Special Events and Catering at the corporate center.
The concept is true to its name — cicchetti is Italian for small bites — dishing up an array of savory bites and sweets paired with wine. It is styled after the classic Venetian wine bar, known as a bacaro, where locals gather.
