Vigil held Sunday for man shot, killed

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A vigil in the memory of a man left shot and dying on a west Charlotte street was held Sunday.

Mothers of Murdered Offspring marched from Keith Houston's grandmother's home on Clay Avenue to Tuckaseegee Road, where he was shot last Sunday.

His girlfriend told us she was talking to him on the phone -- when the line went dead.

She says she's trying to be strong because they were expecting a baby.

“I’m just trying to be strong. I know I need to be healthy and strong for the baby. People tell me not to stress, but, you know, you want that baby to be healthy, so I’m trying to be strong,” said girlfriend Keona Preston.

Police do not have any suspects in Houston’s murder.
