Visitors fill Crowders Mountain on first day reopened

KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. — The chilly temperatures couldn’t keep some hikers away from Crowders Mountain State Park on the first day it reopened.

The park has been closed since March after too many people were on the trails and prevented social distancing.

“It just blew me away to see how many people were out. I guess everybody was waiting on some kind of restrictions to come up because I know I was,” hiker Christy Lee said.
