CONCORD, N.C. — Volunteers spent the weekend renovating a community clinic in Cabarrus County.
Nurse, volunteer, and retired firefighter James Gerber has spearheaded the effort to paint, replace flooring, walls, and update reception and patient rooms at the Community Free Clinic.
The clinic has already secured an $80,000 grant from Lowes, but Gerber says he’s working to raise more.
Gerber wanted to help as much as he could after seeing how much the clinic does for the community.
“They also provide free medications, and they are also a food bank,” Gerber said. “They provide tremendous services for the community. Therefore, when I saw what the do here, I realized how much good they do, and I wanted to be a part of that.”
