Wake Forest to play Texas A&M in Belk Bowl

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Wake Forest will play Texas A&M in the Belk Bowl, bowl officials announced Sunday afternoon.

The game will be played at 1 p.m. Dec. 29 at Bank of America Stadium in uptown Charlotte.

Wake Forest, a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference, boasts a 7-5 record, led by quarterback John Wolford, who has passed for 2,792 yards with 25 touchdowns to just six interceptions. He has also rushed for 615 yards with 10 touchdowns.

Running back Matt Colburn II has 754 rushing yards with six scores, while wide receiver Greg Dortch has 722 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.

The Demon Deacons beat Temple in last year's Military Bowl. This is their second consecutive bowl berth after missing out the previous seven seasons.

Texas A&M, from the Southeastern Conference, owns a 7-5 record. The Aggies are directed by quarterback Nick Starkel, who has passed for 1,067 yards with eight touchdowns to two interceptions in five games.

Keith Ford has 11 rushing touchdowns and Trayveon Williams has 678 rushing yards with six scores. Christian Rook has 652 receiving yards and six touchdowns.

The Aggies recently fired head coach Kevin Sumlin and hired former Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher to the same position.

Virginia Tech beat Arkansas, 35-24, in last year's Belk Bowl.
