Waxhaw residents complain about misdelivered mail

WAXHAW, N.C. — Waxhaw residents are speaking out after they said issues with misdelivered mail have been plauging them for months.

Neighbors in Silvercreek, Wesley Oaks and Bershire subdivisions said they have complained to the Waxhaw post office about mail delivered to the wrong addresses.

"Everybody's complaining about getting wrong mail and wrong packages delivered," said resident MaryAnne Stone.

Others told Channel 9 they were concerned about their personal and financial information being exposed.

"Important documents, from banks and things...getting in the wrong hands, it could be a potential problem," Stone said.

United States Postal Service officials confirmed to Eyewitness News they were aware of the issue and said they were working directly with the mail carriers and clerks responsible for those delivery areas.

"The Postmaster takes complaints of misdelivery very seriously," said Monica Coachman, a spokeswoman with USPS.

Coachman said anyone who has experienced the issue should contact the Waxhaw Post Office immediately.
