SHELBY, N.C. — This weekend, community members can support a Cleveland County deputy recovering after being shot twice earlier this month.

Tim Sims was shot in the face and leg while on duty and spent days in the hospital. He was released last Saturday and, though he's recovering well, still requires costly medical care and rehab.
From Friday until Sunday, the Autobell car wash in Shelby will donate $1 from each wash to deputy Sims and his pregnant wife.
Sims works at the Autobell part-time.
There was a special reunion for Sims on Thursday with the medical staff that helped him. They sent Channel 9 photographs from Atrium's Cleveland County hospital.

Sims was rushed to that hospital the night he was shot before being flown to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
The nurses and doctors said they were glad to have Sims back in their halls as a visitor instead of a patient.
