Wells Fargo to close another Charlotte branch this summer

CHARLOTTE — Wells Fargo & Co. will shutter another branch in the Charlotte region this summer.

The branch at 1527 West Morehead St. in Charlotte will consolidate with a nearby location at 2803 Freedom Drive on Aug. 16, spokesman Josh Dunn confirmed to CBJ. The branches are about 1 mile apart.

Wells Fargo says that, while branches remain important, customers are increasingly turning to digital banking tools. As a result, more transactions are happening outside of branches.
