CHARLOTTE — West Charlotte High School is set to host a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new gym on Saturday.
The new building, which opened in August, is naming the gym after legendary coach Charles McCullough. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education voted unanimously to name the gym after McCullough.
McCullough was a west Charlotte graduate, athlete and ended up as a physical eduaction teacher and boys’ basketball coach. He coached for 33 years, leading the team to more than 600 wins and five state titles. He died in 2017.

The new $106 million building is in its first full year.
