What homebuyers can expect to find at $3M on the Charlotte market

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Options are limited for those with pockets deep enough to afford to purchase a home in the upper price bracket of Charlotte's housing market, though buyers can still expect to have some wiggle room.

In what likely comes as little surprise, the number of new home listings priced from $2.5 million to $3.5 million was scant during the first eight months of this year. There were 87 homes listed for sale between January and August, rising by nine listings from the previous year.

Buyers at this price point could afford, for example, a three-bedroom, three-and-a-half bathroom penthouse unit at the 230 South Tryon condo building, with high-end features such as an indoor sauna and three terraces overlooking uptown. There's also several residences fronting Lake Norman, listed just below $3 million, with a plethora of luxury finishes.
