Will Charlotte restaurant's bathroom be named the best in America?

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — It's that time of the year when Cintas Corp. announces its 10 finalists for best loo of the year. Those 10 top toilets will compete for the crown in the Cintas 18th annual America's Best Restroom contest.

Finalists were selected based on cleanliness, visual appeal, innovation, functionality and unique design elements. The winner will receive $2,500 in facility services from Cintas while gaining national recognition as a first-rate public restroom.

Last year, the J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge in Sanibel, Florida, took home the top prize for its "wild" restrooms featuring tarpon, otter, osprey and sea turtles. It provides an underwater wildlife illusion, including life-size animal sculptures on the walls and ceilings, and professional photographs of wildlife in their natural habitat on the walls and stalls inside.

There are some pretty amazing restrooms competing for the top prize this year, too. For instance, Jianna Restaurant's bathroom in Greenville, South Carolina, showcases different aspects of Italian culture, while La Belle Helene's bathroom in Charlotte is styled as a French brasserie with a shared vanity that reflects a hand-painted mural that's for an Instagram-able bathroom selfie.
