Wisconsin company investing $9.5M into Hickory expansion, creating 300 new jobs

HICKORY, N.C. — A contract packaging company is planning to expand to Hickory and bring 300 new jobs with it.

MaxPax LLC plans to locate in a 158,000 square-foot facility in Hickory. The company plans to invest $9.55 million in building renovations, machinery and equipment and will create 300 new jobs over five years.

The company plans to begin operations on Sept. 14, 2020.

“It is our great pleasure to be expanding our operations in Hickory,” said Rick Geiger, CEO of MaxPax LLC. “During our search for a new location we found that North Carolina had the right business climate, vision, and workforce to help MaxPax remain successful. We are looking forward to becoming a valuable member of the community.”

According to a news release, MaxPax LLC is headquartered in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, with three manufacturing facilities across southeast Wisconsin serving the contract packaging needs of the cleaners, sanitizers, personal care, household and industrial products industries.

The expansion into Catawba County is aimed at providing a more central location to serve its customers in the eastern United States.

MaxPax LLC will immediately hire 80 new employees for first and second shift positions, including production workers, warehouse workers, line leads, mechanics, quality control personnel and a warehouse manager.
