STATESVILLE, N.C. — Police are investigating a crash that left a woman dead and another injured as they stood in line at the DMV office in Statesville on Wednesday.
Just before noon, police were called to the DMV office on West Water Street.
Officers said a white Toyota Tacoma was heading east on West Water Street when the pickup truck veered off the roadway to the right and onto the sidewalk.
Police said the truck, driven by 73-year-old Linda Price, continued along the sidewalk and hit two women who were standing in line at the DMV.
Sandra Woodside Hager was rushed to Iredell Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Sandra Davidson was injured and taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
When police got to the scene, they said the pickup truck was gone. It was later found on Davie Avenue, as was Price, who was also taken to the hospital.
She was later released.
No charges have been filed and the investigation is still ongoing.
