Woodforest shutters Uptown branch as part of southeast reduction plan

Uptown Charlotte

CHARLOTTE — Woodforest National Bank has closed its office in Uptown Charlotte.

The move was a part of a broader strategy to downsize across the southeast, according to the Charlotte Business Journal.

The bank has around 90 branches across North Carolina.

Of those, 23 reside within the Charlotte metro area.

“Those offices have closed with the purpose of us focusing on our home state of Texas,” Julie Mayrant, Woodforest president and chief community banking officer, told CBJ sister publication Houston Business Journal. “We made the strategic decision to reallocate those resources and that strategy here to Texas, and that resulted in us closing those (offices).”
