CHARLOTTE — If data from Zillow on browsing patterns is any indication, local buyers are angling for a home at an affordable price point in a housing market that has seen values skyrocket over the past year.
In three of the Charlotte area’s top five ZIP codes generating the highest level of interest on Zillow’s website, home values came in under the $300,000 threshold. Those three ZIP codes of 28269, 28262 and 28213 are located in the north and northeastern portions of Charlotte.
Home values there fall below the typical price a residence in the Charlotte metro sold for in July. That month, both the median and average sales price of a local home soared 16.1% year over year — to $331,000 and $400,026, respectively, according to Canopy MLS data. The average list price jumped 8.6% to $396,835.
In order to zoom in on which parts of the Charlotte metro are garnering the most attention from prospective buyers, Zillow looked at the number of page views local listings tallied during the month of July. It then combined the data to find the median number of views per ZIP code.
