GASTONIA, N.C.,None — Gastonia police said a 17-year-old man tried to ingest marijuana that he had in his possession during a traffic stop.
The Gaston Gazette reports that police said Christian Ortiz of North Rhyne Street also had two beers in his possession during the stop Sunday morning on East Franklin Boulevard.
Gastonia police officer D.J. Rowland said that he stopped the vehicle as part of an unrelated investigation.
"The subject tried to destroy the marijuana by eating it and had in his possession two Bud Light beers," Rowland said.

Ortiz was charged with underage drinking, marijuana possession and resisting arrest.
Police said they recovered about $20 worth of marijuana from Ortiz.
