Monroe officer will not stand trial for alleged touching incident

MONROE, N.C.,None — A former Monroe police sergeant will not stand trial on charges of inappropriately touching a 15-year-old girl.

According to reports from newspaper partner The Enquirer-Journal, the district attorney dropped charges against Joe Pressley. The Union County District Attorney found his office had a conflict of interest in the case and had to turn it over to Rowan County.

Rowan County decided not to pursue the case.

Pressley was fired in October.
