STATESVILLE, N.C. — A woman's body has been found in a creek in Statesville.
Police in Statesville said they were called around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday after the body of a woman was found in a creek behind a home.
Neighbors said a contractor working on a home near the creek noticed the body.
Investigators are trying to determine the woman's name. A woman had been reported missing in Statesville on June 1.
It was not immediately clear how she died.
An autopsy was planned Thursday at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
