CONCORD, N.C. — A major plant in Concord is shut down after a pipe broke overnight, filling the building with smoke.
More than three dozen firefighters responded to the Perdue Chicken plant on Harris Street around 11 p.m. Monday.
Fire crews said a pipe supplying oil to an oven ruptured, causing the oil to vaporize, filling the plant with smoke.
No one was injured but officials said the plant will be shut down Tuesday while crews repair the damage.
