Police: Fatal Shooting Stemmed From Card Game

CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — A man was charged with murder after a fatal shooting that stemmed from a card game, according to police.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police were called to Remus Road in west Charlotte early Saturday morning and found 22-year-old Brandon Davis lying on the street, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center, where he later died.

Witnesses told investigators that Davis had been arguing with 21-year-old Desmond Singleton over a card game, and that the argument escalated into a physical argument. Singleton shot Davis and fled the scene, according to police.

Officers later stopped Singleton and detained him. He was initially charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, but that charge was changed to murder after Davis died.
