Zahra Baker was reported missing at about 2 p.m. Oct. 9. Her father, Adam Baker, called 911, asking police for help after being unable to find his daughter.
"So, no one has seen your daughter since 2:30 this morning?" the dispatcher asked.
"No, like I said, we had all that drama last night and me and my wife went back to bed," Adam Baker said. "My daughter's, I think, coming into puberty, so she's hitting that brooding stage, so we only see her when she comes out when she wants something," Adam Baker said. "That's about it."
During the call, which lasted nearly five minutes, Adam Baker said Zahra was missing and also mentioned a ransom note found eight hours earlier, which makes threats about kidnapping his boss's daughter. He said the note was found when a fire broke out behind his home.
"Somebody had poured gas in my company vehicle that I drive for work and left a ransom note on the company vehicle to my boss, saying they had his daughter and his daughter is fine. It appears they may have taken my daughter instead of his daughter," Adam Baker said in the 911 call.
Zahra's stepmother, Elisa Baker, 42, has been charged with obstruction of justice after investigators said she admitted to writing the ransom note. Teams continued searching small, targeted areas for clues on Tuesday.
