Report: Rock Hill apartment fire intentionally set

ROCK HILL, S.C.,None — A woman believes someone set fire to her Rock Hill home Tuesday while she was watching television.

The woman was inside her Workman Street apartment just after midnight when she began to smell something burning from the kitchen area, according to a Rock Hill police report. She checked the kitchen, but didn't see anything so she returned to watching TV.

When she still noticed the smell, the woman opened her back door and saw a "blaze of fire" on the exterior siding and a mop on the back porch, the report states. She put out the fire and noticed a white cigarette lighter on the ground.

She believes someone intentionally set the fire.

Total damage is $1,510, the report states. The lighter was taken into evidence.
