BENNETTSVILLE, S.C. — A body found in a remote area of South Carolina is a missing 8-year-old girl whose mother was slain, the coroner confirmed Tuesday.
Iyana Lowery's body was recovered Sunday morning near McColl.
A Bennettsville man remains in the county detention center, charged with murder in the May 5 stabbing of Iyana's mother Ella Lowery in that town, located several miles southeast of McColl.
Jejauncey Fernando Harrington, 32, is now charged with two counts of murder, one count of kidnapping, one count of armed robbery and two counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

The girl's body was found Sunday off New Bridge Road near McColl.
"The body was identified by Marlboro County Coroner Tim Brown through DNA records,"
Marlboro County Sheriff Charles Lemon said. "The coroner has ruled the manner of Iyana 's death is homicide."
Dwayne Bright, 36, was arrested and charged last week with murder and possessing a weapon during a violent crime.

Lemon said he believes the girl was at the home when her mother was killed.
